UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the old handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in various styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever can also be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in several finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with screws and a spindle that allow them to be fitted on an existing or new upvc replacement door handles door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is usually a benefit when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles that slide from their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is important to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the right handles.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of door. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors generally requiring different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the amount of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This can help prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

There are also cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after usage. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. Adding this simple component is among the best ways to correct this and it is also a great way to prevent your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as they are not always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of the aluminium door handles handle for numerous brands of upvc door handle replacement doors.
