Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are the multifunctional, versatile allies of parents and caregivers. They are the co-pilots for your child's next adventure.

A pram newborn is a must for infants and newborns. It comes with a a deep, sturdy carrycot with soft and secure walls.

A pram comes with a bassinet. However, it can also be converted into a stroller compact when the baby is ready.

Safety

The newborns of today are extremely fragile and must be kept as safe as is possible. A pram or stroller with safety features will ensure that your baby is in a safe and comfortable environment during travel. A stroller or pram must include a break that is working, a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps and two waist straps and the crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person pushing it. Be sure that the model you are considering is in compliance with these requirements before you purchase.

Find a pram which allows your baby to travel in the position recommended for lying flat. This position is supportive for your baby and avoids a dangerous spinal curve that could cause spinal issues. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the risk for SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Find a pram with two shoulder straps which are cushioned and a five-point security harness. It should fit your baby's body comfortably. Be sure there aren't gaps or areas that are loose where fingers could get trapped, and that the buckles are comfortable to use, especially for older children. You should also think about if you would like a parent-facing pram. It is ideal for keeping an ear on your child, and makes them feel more secure having their parents around.

You should be able to store bags for shopping and changing underneath the pram (but keep in mind that too much weight could cause it to topple over).
