Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked a return to the classic sextet format of previous albums and was a more powerful, consistent effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The more edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard work was also sharper, more complex and less akin to previous recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live show in Amsterdam which was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album a few months after and then embarked on a world tour help promote the album.
