The drawers are equipped with temperature controls, so you can set them for Beverage, Meat or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their textured plastic coatings to be a little rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from any place in the globe. It also has a lot of customization options. It will also send notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the fridge or freezer must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The fridge section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour, and remained at that temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for premium appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. Another issue with this refrigerator is its doors. The handles that are sunken let shorter people open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerator that comes with an ice maker, which makes it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth french door fridge or side by side Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a french style fridge door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It has a simple design that's not as striking in appearance as some of the competition, but it has enough features that make it a great choice. Its most important feature is the temperature adjustable drawer, which helps keep foods such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is situated over the two crisper bins, is another nice feature. This drawer lets you redirect a portion of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can keep food items that require special attention. You can alter this feature by using the slider located on the in the middle of the drawer. You can also use this feature to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

During my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across all areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a pretty good performance, but it doesn't quite rank among the best non plumbed french door fridge in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to a smart thermometer for more precise readings of your fridge's temperature.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of grey-bodied stainless steel which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It does a great job of repelling fingerprints and streaks even when compared to the glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
