UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. When doing this it is important that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the old handle.

The top screw's location, the lever and the keyhole dimensions are the three measurements you need to determine. Use the size guide to assist you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This style of door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They are easily fitted on any uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back in the door. A shortened lever can also be used on doors with latches that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently to the lever type handles found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing handles glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and durability to serve its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with a spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a wider size of handle which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the issue of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement upvc door handles UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often known as the "Brompton Carry handle centre" or "cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the correct handles.

After you have determined the correct size of PZ and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, allowing them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with internal and external door handles doors typically having different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is crucial. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external require an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is important that it is not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

There are also cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. There was a time when handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they tend to droop or drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple part is the most effective way to address this issue. It also stops your door from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as one unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes offer an excellent value solution for the problem of door handles that have become sagging.
