UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. When doing this it is important that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the previous handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a modern-day door handle designed to suit new or replacement double glazing handles doors. This kind door handle is offered in a variety of designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit the widest range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back from the door. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles on doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are typically utilized on UPVC doors with double glazed window handles double glazing handles. They come in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability for the purpose it was designed for.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with a spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm permit a bigger handle, which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point aluminium door handle lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the problem of door handles that sag out of horizontal position when not being used.

It is important to ensure that the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the handle centre or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the correct size of PZ it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are usually square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means they return to a horizontal state when not in use instead of hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models that allow them to be put on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, allowing them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically having different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles will receive. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti drill or anti bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place, but in the event that this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.

The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This can help prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is targeted with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a faster and easier way to gain access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located in the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was removed. Adding this simple component is among the best methods to correct this issue and is a great way to prevent your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes have been specifically made for use with multipoint locks that are sprung, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the backplates of door handles of various brands of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
